All Cobb Co. Schools Closed.

If it makes you or him feel any better...at least he knows what's coming. Imagine this past year's senior class. They had plans and dreams and things to look forward to and then, in one afternoon, it was all taken away from them. I hope they get some sense and open up after Christmas...or sooner.
LOL, that's the beginning of flu season.

I agree about the class of 2020. Sucked BIG time. Yeah, as Tony alludes, I'm afraid it's going to get worse come winter. I suspect the class of 2021 will be the "class that didn't exist". :mmph:

And they just did. :tsk: My son's senior year is going to be awesome.

I feel for you and your son this mess has definitely hurt our children and stole some irreplaceable moments from them. My daughter is super excited to start Pre-K this year but with things the way they are thats looking less and less likely. Its not a fun experience trying to explain this to a child.

What makes it even harder for me to stomach is the disparity, even just in our own area, of the reaction. Paulding kids will get to go to school. Cherokee kids, too, along with most Cobb private schools. Virtue signaling is taking away so much from so many, it's sickening.

I guess there's still hope for education! Bartow co is still undecided, the latest I've heard. I've spoken to several children stating they don't learn as well without face to face interaction!

This topic has such a wide range of subjectivity. Its not black and white. Its not left and right.

For us, keeping the kids home was a better option than sending them to school with required masks. I believe wearing masks for prolonged time is harmful.

My wife is a private pre-K teacher. The work for these teachers is MUCH more involved for them to do it all online. It is not the easier choice. My wife's school is still doing face to face instruction. Her workload is much less to do face to face.

The hardest part of all of this was making the choice. We felt like choosing to keep the kids home for online schooling was wrong because of the missed social aspect and benefits of face to face instruction. And choosing to send them for face to face while having to wear a mask would be physically detrimental.

So for US, I am glad they chose for us. It is the safe choice. I understand the Liberty aspect of all of this too....but the virus is real. The danger is real. If you don't see it on a daily basis and endure the possibility of contracting it at work and bringing it home to your family, you aren't as emotionally connected as some are.

Until there is an effective vaccine available for those who want it (que anti vax conspiracy theorists) this situation we're currently in will not go away.

Before you attack me....

Inflated numbers? Of course I believe that.

Inflated media scare tactics? Of course.

Libs controlling most of the hype by social media shaming until the school systems and businesses conform to their narrative? Absolutely.

I assure you I am a staunch anti-lib. This isn't political for me. I just have too much first hand experience with seeing the affect on our emergency medical system by really really sick people. I've done too much CPR on positive or suspected positive due to close relations with positive people. Guys on my crew are positive. Some are really sick, some are asymptomatic.

We need a vaccine. ASAP.

Sorry for the looooooong post....been up all night running these calls and im delirious. Just vomiting my thoughts for yall.

I'm fortunate enough to able to provide decently enough for my wife to be a stay at home mom. It was a struggle to get our 15 yr old to to do the online work with my wife there. We had to stay on top of her non-stop. This is not to mention that it was a complete joke. While i'm concerned about my own family, I'm also very concerned about the upcoming increased educational gap. In the area I live in, there are a lot of lower income families that don't have a nuclear family to lean on or the parents expect the state to take care of them. Kids will get discouraged, drop out, crime rises, another generation of loss perpetuates.
