Almost had a real bad day yesterday

They're more active and aggressive this time of year. They're getting their stores of food and water for the winter. Mark the nest during daylight and return after dark, they will all be in the nest. A cup of gasoline down the hole, no more yellow jackets.
And cap the hole with a rock

This is my second close call in the last month. I was bucking logs less than 2 feet away. Have no idea why they didnt attack. My two boys 4 and 6 were with me. Threw the 4 year old over my shoulder and took off for the house. The other nest last month was 50 ft away. I always keep an eye out but these snuck up on me!

Those are bad little son of a gun they can hit you and hit you again and hit you again before you can get away! Glad you survived my friend

In my experience, they’re more likely to cover you up this time of year, but a less likely to sting you. I used to do surveying when I was in college and we got into those things weekly. Summer months they’d nail you! Fall you’d hear buzzing look down and see them all over your pants legs, but rarely sting. Still scares the crap out of you though lol!

Glad you and the boys were all ok! God bless you!

Carburetor cleaner kills them instantly. Bees breathe through their exoskeleton and when you spray them with that quick evaporating cleaner they fall dead instantly. Plus if you stick the little nozzle down in the hole the fumes will kill a lot of them as well. What the fumes don't kill light that stuff on fire and let it get down in there and burn them bastards out. I use the carburetor cleaner or parts cleaner with a little nozzle on them to spray the wasp nest I can't get to. Instant death and I do mean instant they fall straight from the nest to the ground.
