He was in the 5th army during WWII, Before he was assigned to the 5th army he was assigned to the 34th infantry division according to him. He then became a Quartermaster Sgt at the tail end of European theater, he was on a boat heading to Japan when they formally surrendered. He stayed in for 6 months after the war, and was offered a large reenlistment bonus to stay in and be a recruiter but declined and became a jewler/watchmaker at mintz jewlers in Gainesville.

I'm going to visit his home lodge (Dacula 433) Tuesday to see if they have anything planned for his 70 years, if not I'm gonna try to get something set up, you're more than welcome to join if we present him with a 70 year apron.

My great Uncle was in the 3rd Army and server from Anzio all the way to Germany. I really regret I didn't have him sit down and record his story on tape. These men went through it and went right back to work when they came home. It's an honor to spend time with men such as your Grandfather. Enjoy every minute.

I cherish and enjoy every minute of it. Ever since I was young he was my best friend and role model, I know one day all I will have is memories, that's why I try to do my best to make as many as I can especially with him.
