Well, I'm 41 and there's no way in hell I would have a child at my age. That's a personal and if you two are good with it then go for it.

A couple of friends of mine just had their first child in their mid 40's. I say go for it.
Um, you will be pushing 63-65 these days before the kid is fully gone and thats IF your lucky. Plus in this day and age kids are EXPENSIVE!!!! I would definitely hesitate, because as you get older typically you will see a slight decline in income. Unless you have deep pockets.
When they hit high school and need a car and insurance look out! Then there's college as well... I'm fortunate to have had just one child and at 50 he is now 23, still living at home, works part time, school full time with 3.5 years of college credits. I have friends that are in the 45-50 range that have 3 KIDS, they make good money and are ALWAYS broke due to the grocery bills and all associated with having 3.
I say avoid it if you can, secret surgery and tell her sure, lets have a kid... but thats your decision!

The longer you wait the higher risk pregnancy you may encounter. Believe 35 for women.
Secrect surgery.... Isn't there a trust thing to marriage or something like that? Just saying.

Kim and I had our son when I was 44, he's 3.5 now, and its great. I would do it again in a second.
If you want to, go for it. Be sure you can handle it when the kid(s) are in high school and college and you are mistaken for their grandfather. I have a friend who was 70 when his daughter graduated high school. He is easy going and just rolls with it, but it will happen.
