Ammo drop at Cabelas right now. First 2 guys got the bulk boxes.
I asked before and they told me that I would have to buy a firearm to get the ammo.
So "all ya have to do is ask" doesn't work.
I'm not buying a firearm to get 50 rounds.
Please let me know if I missed something. Or if I asked the wrong person.

All Academy stores and all gun stores hold back ammo for purchase along with a firearm.
If they didn't, the buyers wouldn't have a firearm, they would have a paper weight or a heavy metal stick. And even if I had a lot of ammo at home, I still got the ammo because Academy's prices were good.
I never had to ask for ammo when I bought my firearms, every single sale person asked me if I need a box or 2 (you can get 2 boxes of ammo at GA Fireline when you buy a firearm) ..even before Covid.
I really thought I missed something from your post.

Im still sick about Bidens win and the new proposed pork fat in the legislature, bills introduced into Congress etc.
