Ancient Bridge in Dagestan Withstands the Test of Time: Built Without Nails and Can Hold a Car

The bridge, located near the village of Gulli in the Tabasaran region of Dagestan, is not only a historical monument but also an architectural masterpiece.

Despite the skepticism surrounding the age of the bridge, many locals claim that the structure has been standing there for over 700-800 years. It’s said that the bridge was built using only wood and stone, which were the only materials available to the Tabasaran people at the time. The absence of nails in the bridge’s construction is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of the builders who created it.

But.....someone help me understand this. Wood in the elements for 700-800 years?
Could that even be real? Is Dagestan void of all moisture and bugs? Hell, I leave a 2x4 out here in the South for 10 minutes and it's already growing mushrooms and turning into compost.

A plausible possibility was posted above, that the wood may be teak.

Hardwood in some countries are really, really like steal; imagine years ago, the forests were healthier and the hearts of those woods, NOTHING would eat it or destroy it. Just an example nowadays: the Brazilian cherry is one of the very hardwood that no bugs would eat it...
