Ankle Carry Advice Please

Real world experience ---- Glock 43 in a Blackhawk Size 12 ankle holster - every day (well every work day). That poor gun and holster has seen some crap - to include the bottom side of a river/creek/mud pit a couple times - but has never come off. Had a "Galco" and a "Gould and Goodrich" with the padded back but they just seemed to bulky for me. I like the Blackhawk's velcro through the plastic loop so you can pull it nice and tight when you need it a little extra secure . . .

I know that you said that an ankle holster is the only option. If found the smart carry to be a very comfortable deep cover, carry solution. I carry a 45 auto

Drawing from a seated position can be a an issue. Especially if you have a big gut. But I take comfort in the fact that I am carrying some serious firepower.

What issues make you think that an ankle rig is the only option?

When you are sitting in a car, appendix carry is going to be your fastest, most accessible on body carry option. It's not the most comfortable while sitting I'll admit, but it helps to adjust it higher on your waist while sitting.

If you are sitting in a car and NEED to have a firearm, you probably NEED a shotgun or a rifle. For those who are so concerned about fast draw and access. How many times have you actually HAD to draw your weapon to defend yourself or shoot someone in the course of your occupation?

I contend that unless you are actively employed as a LEO all this is virtually irrelevant. I played cop for many years and most of these concerns are pure fantasy.

99+% of the time you are never actually going to use it. What is important is that you have it in the odd instance that the balloon goes up and the big one comes down.

I haven't had to yet, the point is to be ready for the day that bad **** happens to you. There are plenty of instances of people needing to defend themselves in their vehicles.

If you think it can't happen to you, you're kidding yourself. Now if you want to ride with a rifle or shotgun within reach all the time, more power to you. Length becomes an issue inside the car, and in this case I'm pretty sure OPs employer would take issue with a long arm riding up front.

Thank you for your service.

So the Uber driver is armed. In this situation the driver had time to retrieve a weapon.

Ooh, gotsts have it close by an ready for ‘just in case’. Gotsta Practice my quick draw.

Quit fantasizing.

There is a point in law called the reasonable man test. “Are these the actions of a normal, sane, and reasonably rational person, in a same or similar circumstances”.

If you can tel me that this shirt happens every F***ing day and you better be ready. I’d say you’r certifiable.

I have used a smart carry for over 15 years and it is still in good shape, these are soft, double pockets for gun and mag and can be worn in appendix, side or back positions, The large size will accommodate basically any full size, down pistol.
