Another great reason to carry

Ha, went to put the bird feeders out this morning and this guy was staring back at me. We take the feeders in at night so he/she won't trash 'em. And no to all you big brawny macho men out there I will not coot it. It was up here in the mountains before I was. You make one little noise and they run like a scared wabbit. bearr.jpg

Fair enough. But it is a proven fact that pit bulls have a very high prey drive (even the loved ones with great homes). My wife is a vet and has participated in studies verifying the same. I've got $20 that says when more details emerge the word pit will be in there. I'm not trying to bash anyone or their dog on here, but facts are facts. Pit Bulls have vilified themselves..

Most dogs worth their salt have high prey drive. Ever seen a lab retrieve? Prey drive. How about a bloodhound track? Prey drive. Boarder Collie herd? Prey drive.

Need I go on?

BTW, what has most vilified Pit Bulls is the misidentification or assumption of breed of dogs that attack. You know, exactly like this thread did. That's what my first post was pointing out. It typically goes something like this:

Dog attack!
"I bet it was a pit."
"It must have been a pit."
"I'm sure it was a pit."
"It WAS a pit."
"Pits are killers."
"What? It was a Cocker Spaniel? That's no fun."
Cricket, cricket, cricket. End of discussion.

I carry every where I go. I always carry when Im in my yard with my kids already had dog problems with neighbors yes they were "PITBULLS" . I walked outside to put my older 2 kids in the truck and when I turned around to get my door open I had 2 of them about 20 feet behind me on my concrete steps that go up to the front door. So I slowly opened my door reached in the got my Glock 40 cal and had it on the dog on my left side. I stomped my foot and yelled get and the one on the right took off but the one I had the gun pointed at growled and then left. I jumped in my truck and followed them across the street and pulled up in the driveway and blew my horn. Now at this point I am pissed. But I know how to keep my cool and get my point across with out causing trouble. So out of the house comes the lady that lives there and this BIG BIKER GUY So I asked do you own pit bulls and as she says yes and around the house they come out to her surprise. I said well they were both in my front yard and that one growled at me and I can promise you it will be the last time it happens. She said she was so sorry and didnt know they got out. The big guy never said anything. Like I said I keep my cool but told her how it was. Then she started they wont hurt you and all that BS that people say about pitbulls. So I told her that was a bunch of BS and we have strict leash laws in Fayette Coutny. I know people love there pitbulls that have them and thats fine but as far as I am concerned I have no use for them!!So if you are going to have a breed of dog that has a histroy of being agressive them make sure you keep them where they belong so crap like this doesnt happen. Its a crying dang shame I cant even let my kids play outside in there own yard with out me being out there with a gun to protect them the best I can!! What is this world coming to.

So basically the only thing the dogs did wrong was one growled at you then left when YOU became aggressive towards IT. Would you have reacted the same way if the dogs had been Labs? Sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy to me.

See how that works?
