I agree with this^^^ (except for in Gov't buildings). As another poster suggested, insurance rates may be the catalyst for some of this. If I was the owner of that type of business and putting a small sign in my window was going to save me hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars per year, you can bet your a** that sign would be posted in my window as well. It doesn't mean I'm going to frisk anyone that comes through the door who happens to be CC. If for some ridiculous reason, you are choosing to open carry to prove some type of point where I am running a business and I would rather not alienate my customers unnecessarily, I would be compelled to ask you to come back later without your gun. The store owner is only trying to protect his interests. I'm sure he did not invest his money to open a shop for people to come and openly demonstrate their personal agendas.

Well of course no carry where prohibited BY LAW!

And I am sure mom's demand whatever feel secure in the stores with no gun signs as it will, of course, prevent bad guys from bringing in firearms!

Anyone remember the story from earlier in the year where a store in Arizona wanted the right to not serve gays? Gay groups fought against it and the bill never became law. Or you can look decades ago to the "No Blacks Allowed" signs that used to be on certain stores.

That's how I view "No Guns Allowed" signs on private property, especially in Georgia as the signs aren't recognized by law. I'll carry regardless because I have a right to do so that supersedes the store's right to deny me service. Stores have the right to tell you to leave and call the cops if you don't (for trespassing) but hopefully in time doing that to a gun owner will look just as egregious as doing that to a black person, gay person, handicapped person, woman, etc.

As far as the insurance argument, I find it prejudicial. I could only imagine the outrage if someone found out an insurance company raised a store's rates because that store had a high percentage of African American patrons.

With all the money these group have for fundraising and marketing ($50 million from the @$$wipe in NY)- I wonder how many of the rambos you referenced above are paid for by these group. Wouldn't be anything illegal about it - -just clever marketing. Have a few dude dress up like a couple of morons and bring in ARs that are all dressed up. Hell - 4 or 5 fullt decked out ARs would cost them less than a TV commercial or ad in a national newspaper.

Be careful in places like Tennessee. Went on a day-trip to Chattanooga recently and learnt that in TN "no gun" signs are treated as law. For your second point - we found out banks and lending institutions were being pressured by Eric Holder and his little group of backstreet boys to deny loans to the gun industry. Last I recall, didly was done about that...

i am sure you are right and it is somewhat obvious that even the ODT has big time anti gunners on here as well encouraging open carry everywhere as they know it will help the anti gun cause.

Here is some very useful info...

Q: What if a business posts a sign stating “No Firearms?”
A:
While there is no law against carrying a firearm into a business that posts such a sign, GeorgiaCarry.Org encourages its members to respect the private property owner’s wishes. Why support such a business with your hard-earned money? There are plenty of businesses that support your right to bear arms. They are more deserving of your support.
Should a business owner or his agent ask you to leave while you are carrying a firearm, do so immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible. Failure to leave within a reasonable time, or refusing to leave, is a criminal offense known as “criminal trespass.” In addition, please maintain a polite demeanor so as to project a good image of yourself and other GCO members to the business owner and any witnesses even when asked to leave.
