Any 300 prc fans out here?

I thought 338lm was the way , beyond 2k yds and it will but during rifle study I came across 300prc (not paying for 416 Barrett or 408 Cheytac in , out of my range) . The 7mm prc sounds awesome with good barrel life, less expensive ammo, and weight but gives up the ghost to early. Open to criticism or whatever, just want the best LONG range rifle for the money. Savage 112 was not it unfortunately.

2,000 yards plus Cheytac , 416 Barret, 375 Enabelr, 37XC..those 400gr plus projectile weight are the way to go

Good cartridge. Comparable to 300 norma, but easier to load for due to case capacity, but also a bit slower. Ammo is about half the price of the NM as well. I've run the PRC out to 2200 with good success. Only took a few shots at 2500 and I couldn't tell what was happening downrange. No visuals on misses, shooter error, combo of, I dunno. (Backdrop was just foliage, so no feedback from misses).

Until you step up to 375 CT (and variants) and 416 barrett, 300 PRC or Norma Mag are solid. Ballpark, load-dependent, 300 NM gets around 900rd barrel life and 300 PRC around 1500, from what I've seen. Take that into consideration if you plan on shooting it a fair amount.

An 8lb rifle with 28 inch barrel? That barrel must be pencil-thin. It is going to heat up real fast and start throwing shots. I'd go heavy. Almost a "heavier the better" scenario. Better for intrinsic accuracy on strings of fire and better for recoil mitigation, which well help in realized accuracy as well.
