I recently received a Charter Arms Off Duty .38 Special. It has a stainless or nickel finish. This is an older model made in Stratford,CT. Are these decent guns? Approximate value?

Thanks

Charter Arms with the Stratford barrel address are darn good guns, and quality control was very good from that factory. Later guns, not so much. And it pays to give used examples a good inspection/cleaning. These were less expensive to purchase new than other good quality revolvers, and like most things, the cheaper something is, the less TLC they get from their owners.

THAT'S A GOOD LOOKING SNUB. LOOKS SS TO ME.

I think there one of the most underrated handguns out there. I've owned numerous charter's and had one's like stated above, uncleaned will cause any gun to malfunction ,and I recently purchased one that wasn't opening properly . So a friend of mine who is a gunsmith cleaned up a part which had frozen up due to neglect and it works great now. Its the 44 special version.

I've got a couple of them. One in .32, and one in .38. Very good value on these, for what they go for. $250-350 on the price.

The only one I ever owned was a POS. Tried to get them to honor the lifetime warranty and was told mine was a pre bankruptcy model and they would not help me.
