Popping on deceleration is not sign of running rich, just the opposite.
Check your exhaust at the heads for leaks, loose bolts.
Beats me man, this is a few steps above my pay grade. Lol
Normally if you pop on throttle back you have a loose or bad exhaust gasket. I would check the bolts there first.

As said earlier a rich mixture will not pop, LEAN will cause popping, the flame travels faster.
Fix the s/o valve check the exhaust bolts and ride it,see what happens. Just my thoughts.

Yeah I need to pull them and give them a lookI hate to get back to the carb but could one of the jets have build up or be clogged causing it to burn lean?
Check your plugs and see if they are tan or if one is different from the other
