My understanding of economics, which is very limited, is that the dollars chase the return. Right now the stock market is showing strong returns, so money is taken out of precious metal and invested in stocks. When investors "sell" their interest in platinum, gold, or silver, the supply goes up and the price goes down.
A whole lot of dollars chased real estate a few years back and we all saw how that ended...
