My ancestor with the 3rd Tennessee Provisional Army carried one like this at First Manassas. Picked this one up at the show Saturday. Anyone knowledgeable on these that can shed a little more light on it?
After that battle they stayed in VA for a little while, then back to East TN for about a year and then on to Vicksburg around November 1862. I'd love to know if they traded these in for more modern weapons prior to Vicksburg. Does anyone have a fold3 or other subscription to look up Ordnance records for Confederate units? I'd be much obliged if you could answer that question.
