Any tips on removing some 40 year old grips of a COLT?

Back to the broken anvil story. I had a Grandfather that had a great deal to do with raising me as a child and instilling some of the better qualities as a person that I can sometimes convieniently posess (or not) as I see fit in any given situation.Anyhow, he was the most positive influence in my formative years, and I dare say Id have ended up much different ( not to the good) without that influence. But he was a one tough SOB. A good Christian. And a Mason.But he didnt sugar coat anything. No filters, Whatsoever.Shaved with a straight razor and that pice of leather that hang by the bathroom door had 2 purposes. To sharpen that razor and teach child psychology. But mostly for razor sharpening. Well as I grew older my Grandfather kept me busy with odd jobs. Grass cutting, gardening,etc. And he would attempt to keep the equiptment maintained as I would continue to unintentionally just tear hell out of it as I was fine tuning the skill of bulldozing various roots or whatever got in the way of my 1968 Snapper Comet hot rod. Well he grew tired one day of being the crew and crew chief of my pit crew for that Snapper Comet hot rod and in a cuss fit of rage he declared to Me, God,and the Neighbors that he was certain that I could break an anvil. Well that was a turning point in my life on the way I took care of lawn equiptment, and the way I looked and that razor strap that had always hung in that bathroom by the door. Well about 20 years passed, and I found that broken anvil at a yard sale. I bought it and brought it to my Grandpas house. Put it where it sits in that picture, and got him outside and showed it to him.And reminded him what he said that day 20 yrs back befire he commenced to wailin on my ass. We both laughed till we cried. He passed later that year.I sure do miss him.
Lots of folks have tried to buy it. But hopefully my daughter will take good care of it when Im done with it.
I came here to read about colt grips, and instead you took me on a feeltrip . Nicely done.
