I've been toying with the idea of using one of my .303 Enfields as a deer or hog gun. Anybody using one? What ammo you using?

I've shot a couple with a .303 Brit. 180gr Coreloct round nose or 150gr softpoints work quite well.
How far out were they? From what I've read it's basically between a 308 and a 30/30
Pretty much all I hunt with right now.
My hunting location only allows shots out to about 100 yards or so...
I also primarily use the Remington Core-Lokt 180 grain rounds.

The first deer I ever took was with a .303. It did the job with the Rem 180 core lok around 30 yards out. I wish I still had it.
I'd use one if the bolt weren't on the wrong side. Supposedly popular with Canadian hunters. Their big game animals are bigger than ours.
Performance wise it is closer to a 308, with a good handload you can get DANG close to a 308. It will for sure kill a hog or deer, or just about anything else that wanders in front of the muzzle.

.303 is pretty much all my brother has ever hunted with. He uses Hornady 174gr (I think). It's closer to the ball ammo weight and is a lot more accurate than the standard wally world loads, according to him.
