Anybody in here drag race?

I used to play around at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds about 22-23 years ago. I had a 1995 Camaro Z28 with all the bolt-ons, DR's, and a nitrous kit. I was in the 12's 1/4 with that setup. Ended up selling that to get a '99 LS1 Trans Am with only mod being 3:73 gears, CAI kit and it ran as fast as my 95 did. I did mostly Friday night Test and Tune but also did the F-Body shootout and won the 13s 1/4 mile bracket one year. Funny because I used to think that was fast, but I recently drove a newer 5.0 mustang that would have blown the doors off of my old F-body's.

Where do yall race?
The kids like to go to Paradise for “Classic/Heritage” weekend , but my favorite 1/8 mile track is not that much further. Haven’t been in 10yrs. Grew up on Dallas Dragway , LOVED IT. Favorite now…

The new technology in cars is insane. I won my first race at silver dollar, have a lot of good memories there. My son raced the quarter mile class(sportsman) last year. Same car he won his jr street championship in, left in high gear (c4 transmission) and ran low 14’s. I don’t remember exactly but he had good mph for his et.

The north end of Sugar Valley and the Busch straight before the facility was built is the only drag racing I’ve done in a car or truck. $$$ . Motorcycle Dirt Drags were a lot of fun .

Very cool memories for sure. I know I had quite a few myself there. And you're right, these newer cars are so much more advanced. I love me some older muscle cars but getting to drive a newer model definitely made me smile.

Quite afew of my friends run up there. It’s a pretty good ride for us.
I’d really like to go to Commerce for Ford Fun or whatever it’s called now. I’d book a place to stay a year ahead , all my friends that used to race said it gets crowded quick. They brought videos back for me… first time I saw a car jump all 4 wheels off the ground was around 1995 . That Subaru was killin most everything out there in it’s class, WILD to this day to me lol . My youngest girl had to have a WRX after seeing it .
