Anyone Else Addicted To Jeeps?

I think this one is #8, bought it 5 years ago when they were just starting to turn collectorish. Had big ones and little ones back where there were legal places to go within a couple hours. I do miss #6 that was a JP clone I built from a nice example YJ Sahara when you could find one. I think at one point I had 3 full sets of green sahara interiors and at least one full dash I bought from others that built rock crawlers. That Jeep lives in LA now, the director of back then Ice Road truckers made me an offer I couldn't refuse back 10 years ago or so. Would build another but finding a good YJ Sahara is pretty much impossible unless ya got 25k burning a hole in your pocket.

Finally had some time to take the fam out for a little bit of trail time. Rode up to Chatsworth to Peeples Lake. It's more of an over grown pond than a lake, but the fire roads in were fun. Past the lake, it gets a little more technical with some creek crossings and whatnot, but never had to come out of 2WD.

Looking into the Georgia Traverse is my new obsession.

I wanted, so badly, to go with a 102 whip on my current Jeep. Seeing your pics makes the FOMO even stronger. :pout:

After getting moved and settled in out here in North Texas I finally got around to doing my lift wheels/tires. Ended up with Teraflex ST2 2.5” lift with Falcon SP2.2 shocks. The wheels are Method 703’s with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT in 35x12.5x17. Haven’t regeared yet, but it’s coming.

No! I sold a thousand of those things when I worked at a jeep dealership. They were to loud on the road, a real pain in the arse to put the top up and down, especially when the top shrunk over some time and grotesquely underpowered. Not only that if you wanted to do some real off-roading you had to spend a ton of money on suspension, differentials, wheels and tires. They are a fun idea but just built to cheaply from the factory. The Rubicon was the one to buy but still needed a ton of money for real off roading. The main thing I couldn't get over was the noise in a soft top when traveling. They make a decent toy for mild of road playing but that's it. That is one expensive toy. Building a hot car is doable because you can still travel in comfort in the modern cars or mildly built classics with air con.
