The bastard Luger in the anemic 8mm caliber. Recently I picked up a Nambu type 14 from an estate. Initially when I peaked in the cigar box I thought I spied a Luger, One of the few guns I still want for my collection that I don't have. I quickly squirreled it away under the seat of the truck as I was loading the truck. Once down the road I pulled it out to discover that the hunt for a Luger was still a quest as I opened the box to discover my find wasn't what I thought it was. A Type 14 Nambu, bummer. I got home and began surveying what I had and since it was disassembled, I had to figure out what was missing. The parts lot was about 90% complete. A few random springs, a firing pin and a trigger bar/button pivot. I began hitting all the sources. I got a firing pin from one of our members. When I researched further, of course it wasn't the correct one. So back to finding parts. I found a fellow in Iowa that seems to be the guru guy for Nambus. I sent him an email and he responded. He had all the parts I needed and his prices were very fair compared to other sources.
This evening the parts arrived. I had sent him the bolt to check out the extractor and the firing pin that I had picked up. The trigger bar pivot he sent wasn't even close, the firing pin striker I had sent with the firing pin wasn't in the box. I'm going to call him shortly to see if it got left out. So, I sit here still with a non-functional Nambu. I see why the Japanese lost the war. The more I play (screw around) with this thing, the more I dislike it.
Anyone else ever worked on a Nambu type 14? What's your thoughts?
