Anyone else had much experience with Elmax Steel?

I have a ZT 0551 Hinderer that's Elmax.

Going to carry Nov, use the blade hard. Then see how the edge holds and how much it takes to bring it bag. Pretty good hardness rating. So we will see.

I know Elmax hasn't taken off too much, so just curious.

I carried a 550 for a bit. I thought it would be the end all carry knife. I liked everything about it individually but just never did love it as a whole. I did not see anything spectacular about the steel but I did not have any complaints either. I did not use it real hard though. Mostly pencil sharpening,plastic cutting and cardboard disposal. I did hack some branches from a bothersome holly but nothing that I would impress anyone with. Overall it was a good knife but I went back to my mini Rukus with 30v and I'm happy again.

I'm hearing/ reading the same basic sentiments all around. Not living up to the implied hype it seems.

I do like it's stonewashed finished....but that can be achieved on several steels.

Seems like it will go into my "meh" pile
