Anyone else notice the B-17 flying around?

I understand you can pay for a flight on it and some other vintage aircraft this weekend out of PDK.

I'm lucky enough to be on its flight path.

When I was a kid I loved all the WWII aircraft. I remember watching Twelve O'clock High late one night on TBS and loving the the B-17.

15 years later I was a military aviator stationed in Arizona. I went to the Pima Air Museum, lots of great aircraft displays and a really pristine late war all silver B-17G! Honestly, I was shocked at how small it was.

If you are ever in the Tucson area, the Pima Air Museum is definitely worth the time.

Expensive flights. Worth it, though. I am very tempted to take my son on a flight. Almost $1k…Yikes.
How often though will be he be able to say he rode on one? I begged my buddy's kids to ride the Huey at the last Knob Creek Machinegun Shoot. I was paying!!! They decided not to do it. I've ridden them in training and wanted them to experience it with the doors open. Sad.

I got to ride in a older transport helicopter when I was an intern at TVA in 1976. Very cool at the time. They dropped the team off at a remote site where there had been a an acid spill from a train derailment. On its way back with some lime to start neutralizing the acid the helicopter lost power, crashed and ultimately burned to a pile of silver looking dust. Thankfully nobody was hurt. I would still want to fly in one again!!
