Anyone else notice the B-17 flying around?

Under the category of being an ODT Troll just once in my life..... That's a picture of a B-29 ;-)

I got to ride in a vintage Huey a few times - leaving Minot AFB to head out the Charlie and Echo launch control centers (Late 80's)

How often though will be he be able to say he rode on one? I begged my buddy's kids to ride the Huey at the last Knob Creek Machinegun Shoot. I was paying!!! They decided not to do it. I've ridden them in training and wanted them to experience it with the doors open. Sad.

I agree it would be amazing. I’m thinking about it.

use to see the B17 fly over at approach to PDK from my Moms backyard in Doraville. Could see the rivets and yes the sound was wonderful.

Wish it would fly by here. That would be really cool to see. I knew a man that was a ball turret gunner who flew nearly 30 missions. He wrote a book about it. Elmers tune. Was also the planes name

Got 30 minutes of left seat time in the EAA’s B-17 “Aluminum Overcast” and bailed out of the bomb bay of the “Nine-O-Nine” (later destroyed in a crash in CT.) and landed on the beach in Destin, FL with 11 other skydivers.

I saw this very same B17 in Macon at the Herbert Smart airport back in the 1990s. There was a lady from Great Britain who was a little girl during WWII, and she said she would be awakened in the early mornings by the crew chief's warming up the engines on the bombers at the airfield. She told how her "mum" would get her up so they could say prayers for the young lads going out that day.

All you had to do was complete 25 bombing missions to rotate home. It took until 1943 for anyone to do that. The airplane that did it was the Memphis Belle. She's been fully restored and resides at Wright Paterson museum in Dayton, Ohio.
