Anyone Familiar With Owls?

Had an interesting encounter with a big barred owl last week while fishing a small farm pond. At 6:00 in the evening, the owl swooped down and attempted to grab my topwater bait. I saw him just in time, and waived my arms and yelled at him. He flared off to my left and went up the pond. About ten minutes later, I see something out of my left side, and here he comes gain, in an attempt to steal my Whopper Plopper. Well, he snatched it off of the water, just as I snatched it out of his claws. He flew off as the bait zinged by my head. All of this happened 25 feet in front of me. Needless to say, we would have had one heck of a fight if he had gotten a hook in him. Or, he would have been flying around with a Team Diawa rod and reel hanging down.

We have at least two in our neighborhood that talk to each other during the day and night. I've never seen them, just hear them.
