Anyone has experience with American Bulldogs?

I have one. Sweet as could be. Best dog I could ever ask for. I have had him since he was a pup. I had him neutered. Trained him myself. And I am not a professional by any means . He’s 11 1/2, got some health issues but he’s doing well for his age. Our family loves him dearly and he loves us just as muchin return. I can honestly say I probably never have a dog that I love as much as him. Get the dog

Do you have children?

There are tests to perform on any breed of puppy you plan to get if you have children. I did a hard pass on an American Bulldog 10 week old pup because it failed those tests. For all of the tests you are checking for the dogs reaction to see if its aggressive and may bite your kids. All of these are things a small child might do. Any attempt to bite is a failure. The dog I passed on angrily tried to bite my face when I blew in his

Gently pinch the ears
Gently pinch between the toes
Gently blow in its face
Roll it on its back and lightly hold to the ground
Gently scruff
Gently pull the tail

.
It appears you are mainly worried about shedding so here is a list of ones that don't. All the rest do.

I ended up buying Cane Corsos and we are very happy with this breed of dog. Very good with family and children. Very effective naturally protective guard dogs and man stoppers.

I had Mastino Napoletano for about 10 years, which is very very similar to Cane Corso, essentially the same dog with more free skin. These dogs once they reach 3-4 years become are too big, too slow, too lazy and generally speaking not very motivated. My dog was super well trained, but still... Another problem with these italian mastiffs is they are very VERY food driven and it essentially makes them not super loyal. They will accept food from strangers, or neighbors and no amount of training gonna fix it. None of my other dogs did it. These dogs aren't super good protectors either, the deterrense factor is big, as dog is large and has scary face, but performance is well below average.
Speaking of "aggression tests", you know I can control aggression when he gets one, especially when it's pup, but I can't make docile dog performing as he is mentally on another planet. These tests I'd say been produced by "dog experts" who never had a dog beyond lap dogs. The dog training is the process of tunneling his natural reaction and aggression into proper channels and filtering what's appropriate and what isn't. If dog has little of that natural vigor it's very little you can teach him (unless it's rolling for a cookie).
All mastino and Corso all have health problems and HUGE amount of inbreeding because italians ate most of their large dogs during a war, they had no means feeding large animals and these were very hungry years so after a war about 20 to 30 dogs been collected across Italy, so all of todays mastino and corsos trace back to them. They just aren't healthy breeds and after 6 yo they barely wanna walk over 200 yards.
My 10 yo rat terrier has more balls and more vigor than my mastiff ever had at 5.
I was specific asking about shedding of american bulldog because someone mentioned to me that they loose hair like crazy, not because I don't know what usually gods shed.
I observed from outside some of american bulldogs, and I see and feel it's dog with good natural reactions, fast reflexes, got endurance, I like it, but having my concerns and hence asking you guys for advices. I live with my dogs long years, don't want to make a mistake, they become a family, wanna everyone to be content and happy.

he's very sweet and seriously looking old boy. Love it!

Great dogs. Dog hair is just a little extra seasoning in your lunch.
The only reason I never got another one is because any other would just be a poor replacement for the Boss dog.

I'm not familiar with the Neo Mastiff other than they are extra large lumbering dogs with not alot of stamina but that's not what they are built for. I saw one in Lowes the other night that was 240lbs.

Cane Corsos are the athletes of the Mastiff breeds. They have the 3rd highest bite pressure at 700psi. They are naturally a very protective guardian man stopper. My older female was 10yrs old and 95lbs when she passed. My male is 6yrs and 120lbs and my younger female is 3yrs and 100lbs. They run and run and run all day. Strangers can't get close enough to offer them food. They do however shed.

:) that's exactly the same story every other mastiff owner is telling, I did too :)

The athletes, in my view are dobermans, pitbulls, malinois, my rat terrier small, but when was younger was super athletic, very VERY confident, broad chest, easy to train and very much want to please but full of dignity, he wouldn't hesitate to stand up against anything , super agile, ran faster than any dog near its size.

In mastiff world all dogs are heavy, even if look muscular, they run out steam pretty fast. Mastino, corso, dog de baurdaux, St.Bernard etc. Probably corso is slightly better than other, and would assume that boerboul is even better, but it's kind of not much difference to speak of.

The american bulldogs look very well built and agile to me, and personality wise seems like what I like, and not excessively heavy , I'm talking about performance type. I'm sure everyone loves their dogs they all are awesome, it's just matter of preference. I may end up with another rat terrier, probably would go for a Decker as they are slightly bigger.
