Goodman 4 ton system with R32 installed this past Sunday. Since then my house has 60 to 70 percent humidity. I want to verify the air handler fan speed the AC installer (fired now) set this unit at. I removed the top panel to the air handler and find the shutoff switch wires not connected and the UV light wires not connected. At this point I don't trust any of the wiring this clown did. The new system is cooling but humidity is high. Pics are air handler model number, air handler relay wiring and air handler TB wiring he did. I want to slow the speed to try and lower the humidity.

John,
Both wires from thermostat and heat pump, have a lot of wires. Fan speed has nothing to do with those low voltage wires. Also, humidity control might be a setting on the thermostat, to keep AC running a little long till the humidity reaches the level you set (ideal 55%).

My advise, call for other company….

Some of the newer Goodman equipment has a fairly high tech control board that needs to be set up to control blower speed for whatever specific condenser it is paired to.
See if you can find a company local to you on the Goodman website that can make sure the system is wired correctly and set up properly.

The T1-T5 terminals are your fan speed, currently set at 4. Your Yellow wires that are on T5 are more than likely for the outdoor unit and should either be wire nutted together (with optional safety switch) or placed under the Y1 terminal. That black jumper wire also adds to speed and most of the time can simply be pulled off as it’s not needed most of the time. Cut the power to it before swapping anything or you may blow the fuse

Watch your electric meter when it’s running,if it spinning out of control they probably have the heat running at the same time as ac.2 of my neighbors had new units installed in the last five years.
The homes would cool but the humidity levels were what you’re experiencing.
The installation techs wired the unit wrong.

Jabroney AC guy installed this system last Sunday and left jumper installed and purple wire on T4 which I thnk is speed 8 on this 9 speed motor. I hired a different tech to come this morning and he wired the UV light and safety switch the jabroney didn't. He also removed the 2 yellows like you said. He installed the purple on T4 and pulled the jumper which is speed 4. I then placed the purple on T3. Humidity is still 64 percent with thermostat set at 73 degrees.

Does speeding the motor up lower humidity or make it higher?

This is a brand new Goodman 4 ton heat pump system MDL GLZS5BA4810 MANUF 3/2025 with R32 Freon. Two techs verified the Freon level is correct.

You want it to run longer without satisfying the thermostat to remove humidity. Was your old unit a 4 ton? Just wondering if it’s oversized

When we moved in 26yrs ago the existing unit was 4 ton. I had it replaced in 2008 with a 4 ton and this new one is a 4 ton.
