Wondered what kind it is. They're huge things, several inches across. And they make really big, strong, and irregular webs that spread out all over the place between bushes & the house just out in the open.

It's a Joro. They can have quite a bit of color and pattern variation. You can see hundreds of you drive through my neighborhood, most up pretty high in the power lines. They are big enough you can see them from a moving car though!
I shot one on my garage with a .177 pellet pistol. Took a leg off with the first shot, blew a chuck off its abdomen with the second, and cut it in half with the third shot. It was seriously injured when I ended my attack and went back in the house.
I hope I never walk through one of those webs! That could be the last time I ever go outside.
