Anyone using any aps to help with load development?

Ladder test is fine. 5 rounds of each powder load, stepped up in increments of 0.2gr from the published "starting load" until you get near 'maximum load'. Which is often between 10 and 12 steps.

Check your grouping and if you have one, use your chrony.

The thing I found with web based (and paper-based) load development is that they might be able to eliminate SOME of the 'steps' in the ladder at the low end. But you still need to shoot ladders. Not all barrels are the same. Powder varies by batch.

Whether you use an app, a book, or prayer -- the principles are the same - try and eliminate as many types of variation as you can in the process. Some people even go as far as to weigh their bullets so they do their reloading using bullets that are as near to identical weight as possible.

But net-net - you're gonna be burning some components. Reducing the degrees of freedom is what will reduce the 'wastage'.
