AR 15 buffer noise

Get an armaspec captured buffer system. Jp than JP and you lose the “twang” of a standard buffer tube system. Only about$80.

I got two of these, they work great. The first one I bought, the second one I made when I saw how simple it was, and just bought the extra $12 springs.

Ok I know I’m probably splitting hairs but you can hear the weights/buffers in my buffer when you tilt the gun back and forth. This isn’t a big deal but I’m setting this gun up with a 350 legend as a hunting gun and don’t want the extra sound.
Any advice on how to get rid of the noise? Should I get a different buffer? If so what kind? I have other AR’s that don’t make noise so I guess I could just swap the buffer from one of them. Lol

I ordered a new spikes t2 buffer but I would never ever put grease in a area on my firearm that’s designed to run dry. Putting grease in the buffer tube will only cause problems down the road. It maybe a quick fix but grease isn’t suppose to be in there.

I always run a film of grease in my receiver extension tube. You will also see it recommended at places such as Semper Paratus Arms and School of the American Rifle. In no way will it cause any issues. Been doing it for 30 years and untold number of rounds, in climates from the desert to above the Arctic Circle.

Buffer tubes make noise? I know that shooting you hear the spring, but I never heard a noise carrying it in the field or out hunting. I would look at the JP enterprise tubes as mentioned previously. They are much more expensive than a reguler buffer and spring though.

Got my new T2 buffer in and noise is gone. The weights in the stock PSA one was noisy as the you could hear the weights inside the buffer slide as you tilted the gun. Normally not a big deal(it was very slight noise) but for a “hunting” rifle that I’m building it was a big deal.

I thought PSA was just was good as anybody else? Oh well. I run a Geissele spring/buffer. Always ran Red n tacky grease on my Buffer springs.

I am not defending PSA but the issue the OP was having was the noise that the standard buffer was making during movement since he was wanting to use his rifle as a hunting rig. That buffer that came with his PSA kit is probably no different than any other standard buffer, regardless of who sells it.

But he switched to a spikes and it went away?

Doesn’t matter to me one way or another, I’m glad he got it fixed.

My Geissele super 42 spring and matching H buffer work great for me.

Yes, I’m a brand whore.

I lightly oil my buffer spring (and all moving parts in my ARs) with Steel Shield/Weapons Shield oil. I am even using it on my boresnakes to very lightly coat the barrel bore.
