I would like a little advice from some of the AR platform guys here. I am thinking maybe this might a good time to own one given recent events. I have an AK now, but thought when I bought it that I'd also like to own an AR as well some day if I could ever come up with the money. Money is still an issue since I have very limited income right now, so what's the best way out? Build your own, or buy one already built? I've seen them at wally world of all places recently, one was only around $650.00, I was thinking that wasn't all that bad compared to the original Colts I've seen. I'm also interested in cost of ownership, I know 223 ammo prices along with most of the rest of it has gone way up in price. I hear the biggest reason for this is the gubbmint is buying all it can get its dirty damn hands on. But, I've just gotten in to reloading so I may be able to reduce that somewhat if I can pick up some brass at the range.

Not to be Harsh but you have waited to late to jump in on the AR game. They are getting very hard to find and building one is just as hard as the lowers are getting extremely hard to find. Good luck in finding one once you have the extra cash . Hopefully the parts will start comming back in stock at some point .

Building is the way to go for the budget and you can build exactly what you want.I personally prefer factory built AR's and go from there.Factory AR's hold their value over mixed parts AR's IMO.That being said it comes down to how much you can afford and availability at this time.Good luck with your choice.

I'm not real concerned with resale value, I just want to have one.... well, just to have I guess. If I can get my hands on one, I'll probably keep it until I'm dead. Where's the best place to start looking for parts to build one?
