Ok. I was killing time looking around and came across a brand of AR I've never heard of called Lewis Machine And Tool. I've owned ARs in the past such as Bushmaster, Colt, etc... my question is, what makes the LMT a $1700+ AR?

Quality! They make tried and tested rifles for military. KAC, LMT, LWRC and a few others occupy the top of the quality ladder in AR's.

I think colt has one too. The 6940 or whatever the model number is. That's why one Colt LE model is expensive and one is much less.

Yea LMT is good stuff. On par with higher end makers like DD, BCM, etc. Probably not worth the extra money to the average Joe.
Never owned one but as others have said - they have a reputation for quality. Also, I seem to remember reading an article a few years back that they won a contract to supply some branch of the UK military with one of their rifles.

It is in the top tier for the tier queers. Btw the only AR I own is an LMT SBR.
