What's the best AR 15 223/556 scope to put on a rifle? Money is not an issue, just want the best, not being used for defense will be using for hunting plinking and target practice hopefully at up to 600 yards. Been looking at the Nikon p223s but hearing they are not truly made for an AR they are made for something with a 23 inch barrel in order to be on spot. Any suggestions?

Leupold 3x9-40. Academy sports has them for $199.99. I got a leupold mount which was $100. For $300 you can't beat it. I just bought one a week ago and it shoots very accurate on my 300blk out AR.

Also I gotta say academy rocks on pretty much all their prices, anywhere else like dicks, gander, bass pro, cabelas you might as well lube up before you go inside their stores cause they rape you on everything. I don't understand why.

I agree. Academy is awesome. Dicks has good ammo sales sometimes.

I have my mount already picked out, gonna use Burris PEPR QD, nice scope though.

No offense, but if money is not an issue and you "just want the best" the PEPR qd mount is a pretty terrible choice. Don't cheap out on the mount unless you plan to go cheap all the way around. Skip the QD type mount altogether unless you go with an ADM or Larue. If money is not an issue then you need to be looking at Leupold scopes or better, and on at least a Leupold fixed-mount or better. Dont get me wrong, Burris, Vortex make some great scopes, especially their top tier, but it's hard to beat a Leupold without breaking the bank.

I run a Burris MTAC 1-4X illuminated BDC reticle on my rifle really like it. Vortex has a 1-6x. Pretty good for general purpose. If I were shooting longer distances more frequently then I would probably change it. Most my shooting is 25-100 yard so it's perfect.

Really you have to decide on your intended use, preference, and price range, tons of options out there just stay away from the bottom of the barrel stuff and you should be fine.
