My AR Pistol has a 10" key mod rail and the AR15 14.5 has an mlok 13. I have been looking for clean, simple, light weight, mount and tactical light. The Streamlight Protac rail mount looked like a great setup in the $100 dollar range but I didn't want the extra bulk of mounting a rail section, then the flashlight mount, and then the light itself on the rifle. After all the idea behind keymod and mlock free float handguards was the advantage of less bulk and using accessories designed for them.

So I thought well I'll just buy the protac light and get a keymod or mlok rail mount, easy enough, after doing some checking most of the mount lights available were 1" and the protact light was a smaller diameter.

Since I have a Nitecore light in an elzetta mount on my shotgun which is holding up fine with the light on firing 00 buckshot I decided to try one on the A15.

Ordered the Nitecore MT1C from Ebay for $36.00 and the $45 for the mount. The light is slim and 3.5" in length, single CR123 like the streamlight. THe bolt shape ring behind the flashlight head is 1" and fits in the mount PERFECT and locks down SOLID, the mount is also light and very SOLID. Great quality on both pieces and I"m 100% sure it will stand the test of firing at the range and time! Like the setup so much I"m going to get the keymod mount and another light for the AR Pistol.

Pretty Tacti-cool!

Then looking at light mounts I was able to find this:
