Are Eastman Gunshows worth going to? Updated.

If there is anything "good" (desirable and priced to sell) at a gun show, It will probably be traded between dealers the night before the show opens during dealer set-up. Sometimes they miss something, sometimes a private seller brings something nice after the show opens, but mostly I go and watch for people trying to sell to dealers. After they have been lied to and insulted two or three times, they are usually softened up to reality and more open to reason. It is only a hobby for me: I might go home empty-handed, but usually not empty-headed. I always learn (or am exposed to) something new.

Save your money for the rk shows at the Atlanta expo center. They do them 2 times a year, the national arms show. These shows are massive and have all types of deals. Even during the craze the amout of independents far outweighed the big timers and good deals were still to be had. Not a total flea market due to size. I think something like 2000 tables are usually reserved. Eastman shows like lots say here are fixed. They are retail machines. Most of the folks doing those shows have been around forever. When a new guy shows up they get all crabby about competition and his or her prices are cheaper. Its a fixed free market. Its like going to 30 different gun stores in one day and they all have the same guns priced 2-5 dollars different. Guns shows in general are a rip. If you haven't been its worth it but took me 5-6 times to realize you spend $10 to pay the same prices you would at most LGS and usually walk out with some ammo just so you don't leave empty handed......
