could be just me but since the footer ads have been going the site gets pretty slow, they also don't show all the time

Are the footer ads Slowing the site down

I Must have not gotten the memo! 
They are set so they won't affect loading, if there is a problem with them they should not load or just load a blank instead of slowing the site down.
They are also only set on pages with forums/threads/posts, so they won't show up on the front page, any private message page, the feed, etc. Use that to see if everything is slow or just the pages with the ads and let me know if you can tell a difference.

That's when it is the slowest, while viewing an ad or in the process of sending/viewing a PM

They are there when viewing an ad but are not there when you a view a PM, so it may be something else
