All the more reason to scream your lungs out for him to drop it before shooting. You have both given the shooter a chance to drop it, and you've identified yourself as a good guy.im always afraid im going to be misidentified as the active shooter if I attempt to move and engage someone who's committing violence outside of my immediate area. Settled on, get myself and whoever is with me the hell away, if I'm engaged by anyone (misidentified or not) re-engage and continue breaking contact. Just my 2 cents, but hey on the ground I might change my mind, wouldn't be the first time.
Also thought about carrying a micro-stuffable (think backpack covers) jacket with plain ol "SECURITY" in yellow on it, maybe it'll keep the other good guys from shooting me if I did start maneuvering. And I can explain to the cops why I was pretending after it's all over. Either way, Always good to keep thinking on this kind of stuff
What if the shooter is another good guy?
