Thinking about getting one of these . I really love all the features but I'm not sure how I feel about depending on a purely electronic scope. Anybody use one of these? Are they accurate and hold zero?

ATN X Sight 5-18x85

I do not own the ATN, but I recently picked up the Sightmark Photon 4.6x which is also a digital scope. http://www.amazon.com/Sightmark-Photon-4-6x42S-Digital-Riflescope/dp/B00NZ98OKG. It's going on an AK that I can loan to friends to do some night hunting with me. So far I've only played around with it, but it's easily good out to 100 yards, and I think it would be capable out to 200 yards. You can also purchase a doubler for it, but I went with the 4.6 for the wider FOV.
I chose the Sightmark over the ATN because the ATN had a lot of issues when it first came out, but from most of the reviews I have seen, ATN has fixed the issues with the X-sight. Most of the reviews on the Sightmark were solid, and plus I also got a great BF deal on it.
The other differences between the two are the X-Sight is heavier than the Photon, but the X-sight also has the built in DVR. With the Sightmark you have to purchase and plug in a DVR if you want to record. You can also plug in a device to the X-sight and watch someone on the screen as they shoot which is pretty cool. Both can be used as day scopes, although they're much better at night.
The downsides to digital scopes are that if you are using them in a thick wooded area, you'll get a lot of splashback (I think that's the term) from the foliage so they work much better in open areas or if you are sitting in a stand.
Whichever one you decide to choose, you're going to need a good supplemental IR, and the Evola T20, T38, or T50 are good low cost choices. http://www.amazon.com/Evolva-Future-Technology-Flashlight-Invisible/dp/B00U77KP56. With the T20 it more than doubles the effective range of the Sightmark, and you'll get even longer range with the T38 or T50.

Any suggestions on the settings as I just picked one up on sale at Academy. I figured for $175 off normal cost, I could try it out before spending big money.
They are junk, had a customer go thru 3 of them.
Well you cost me 460.00 after taxes, I hope you're happy. Seriously I researched it pretty good and they supposedly have the bugs worked out. I really like that you can power it via a USB power supply too! Coyotes and frogs are screwed this year
You will need a micro SD card to update the firmware. Once you register, you will see a link for firmware update. Get a high gig SD card as the scope will also take video and pics using the controls on the top of it. The only other recommendation is to get a Evola T20, T38, or T50 IR illuminator to extend the range. I haven't tried the one it comes with to have a good idea on it.
