I had a 3-week, all expenses paid vacation to the Mojave Dehydrated Beach courtesy of the US Army and Ga ANG back in 1997. It looks a lot different from the air than from the back of a Bradley. 😊
Leaving the Los Angeles area Eastbound…. you pass Edward’s Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert just north of Palmdale…. had a good view of the Rogers Dry Lakebed runway that has been used for aircraft testing and a landing site for the Space Shuttle aircraft…. it can accommodate any aircraft in the world…. the paved part of the runway is 15,000 ft long before reaching the lakebed portion….

Looks like Jan-Feb, with the non-dry lakebed.
There used be a metal shark fin (4-5 foot tall) someone set up out in the dry lake bed, so it the wet season it'd be reflected in the middle of a large lake. Probably no more than 1" deep.
i wouldn't recommend tasting it...
