Band of Brothers verse The Pacific

Whatever you do, definitely don't watch this 10 part documentary on WW2. Don't you dare watch it!

I’m fortunate in that I spent some time around WWII vets and they have been gracious enough to tell me their stories.

Honestly, one of the most impactful ones was when I took a semester at Gainesville College to get some college credits and in a history class he brought in an ex Nazi youth who was enlisted in like 1944 or 45 at the end of the war when he was 14. This person never saw action, but was able to give me insight into what the Soviets did when they took over Berlin, including raping all the women in his family. Imagine growing up and being brainwashed into the fascist Nazi party, and then watching everything crumble around you, feeling guilt for something you were born into.
The germans fought like hell and extended the end of the war by 2 weeks just to be able to surrender to the Americans.

They KNEW what the did to the Russians and knew what the Russians would do yo them if they were captured.

So they fought tooth and nail 2 an extra couple weeks.

I am biased as I worked with several 101st AB vets in Toccoa in the early 2000s. Help set up the museum in Toccoa with many donated items as well. The first "Toccoa to Berchtesgaden" tour featured "Wild Bill Guarnere" and Babe Hefron who went along on the tour, I drove Wild Bill up Mt. Toccoa in my jeep. Got s&^t faced doing shots of moonshine with Col Sinks daughter at one of the reunions . The Pacific is equally as good in its own right.
