barrel jeweling or engine turning?

Do any of yall have experience with jeweling a rifle bolt or the hood of a barrel. I order the Brownells Deluxe Engine Turning Kit and gonna try my hand at it. If anyone has some tips for I would appreciate it.

I have done several things. I have a machinest vise that moves forward-back-left & right. Always do an area bigger than what is seen.
