With more people in the woods now that deer season has started it is important that everyone be prepared for the possibility of a bear encounter.
While here in Georgia we need not worry about Grizzly some may travel out West for a hunt or other outdoor activity. It is recommended that you carry pepper spray and a whistle to help dissuade a curious bears interest. One way to tell you are in an area where there are bear is to be able to spot and identify Bear droppings. Brown and Black Bears droppings will be of moderate size and will have evidence of berries and maybe the bones of small animals. The Grizzly's droppings will be large and have whistles in it and smell like pepper spray.

Be safe

lol
ive run across a few bears and they usually hightail out.
you cant run from a bear they are fast, just make sure you can outrun at least 1 other person your with though.
make alot of noise and make yourself look bigger, raise your pack in the air or coat,2-3 people grouped will look like a bigger animal to the bear.
hogs are different they willl stand their ground, even when on a forest service road and yourin a truck,i know.

I was doe hunting one year in Pa., sitiing on a big stump, and had a huge bear walk within 8 yards of me, after I saw him coming from about 125 yards. Even with a 7mm mag on my lap, I was still pretty nervous watching him come in that close.

I've always wanted my own reality show called " Bear Control". I would be called into residential areas where bears are running amok, and I show up with a Samuri Sword and some Numb-Chuks.

Always be polite to bears. Go up and pet their little ones. Pick them up and feel how soft they are.

Oh, and be sure to leave some trash out for them to eat. They love peanut butter. You can just leave an open jar of it in your car.
