Being Prepared Without Being a Prepper

I imagine there’ll be a lot of Folks dumping out of date stuff soon , if not needs to? That’s the gamble.

That's the thing. Keep a few extra of shelf stable food items you'll actually use normally and rotate them. Less things wasted. Don't stock food you'd not normally eat, or you'll be tossing it when it's too far past the expiration date.

There is actually a lot of good information and basic kit information here.

We all like beans & rice , typical here. So we keep large bags of both. Buy more when it gets half way. That and jerky are the only food items you could call prep meals here. There’s deer, rabbit, squirrel, birds, etc…. all over

I’d say you have your bases covered pretty well OP.
I will just say this on food, a lot of people over think it and spend too much money on “emergency bundles”.
If you have the money more power to you but I say every time you go grocery shopping just buy a couple extra cans of stuff you like that last for awhile.
Before you know it you’ll have an ample supply and when they get close to going out of date you take them to a can food drive as opposed to the emergency bundles which you’ll be pretty much stuck with.
Canned food will last way past the expiration date in most cases.
Those are merely the dates that the food will be best by the manufacturers recommendation.
As long as the cans aren't damaged and are stored in a controlled and dry environment they should last well past that printed date.
It's still a good idea to keep your stock rotated and to use the older foods first but just because they're a few weeks or even months out of date doesn't mean they're not eatable.
If you open the can and and it looks good and smells good it in all probability is good.

I’m down. No problem with canned goods. My Paw In Law taught me to can sausage (1 of the 6 food groups) . Man… that stuff lasts a Long time with proper storage. And Dang if it ain’t GOOD.

Batteries. Rechargeable items will be useless if they can't be recharged in an emergency.
Water, cases and gallons of water and food that only requires water to be eaten
Canned food with hand opener
Sterno
Lighters and matches
Zip lock bags
Definitely batteries. I keep solar chargers in all of my bags so sometimes I over look batteries. One advantage of the new Duracell flashlights is that they are dual power. They have a rechargeable fuel cell and can also run on batteries. I'll add the other things also. thanks
