Benefit of the War winding down - New stock NATO SS109 $360 per 1000

Ordered it the day I posted and got my rounds today. Exactly as described. 20 rounds in a white box with the red sealant around primer and bullet. Haven't fired them yet but I expect the performance to be the same as the last batch I fired from this plant.

I figured I'd take a shot at this too, did the 500 for $179. Came out to a little over $200 with tax and shipping, or about $.40/round.

Ordered Sunday and got an email that my order had shipped this morning. So far, so good.

Well,my 500 rounds was sitting at the door when I got home tonight. +1 on customer service from this company.

Brass looks pretty clean, looks to be annealed and has the lacquer stripe around the primer and the bullet as advertised. Box wasn't mil-spec at all, and was one of those flimsy, combloc jobs. Essentially loose rounds in a paper-thin box.

Checked the head-stamp and it says "SADU 5.56 13" on it. A little digging says this is Romanian ammo, has a decent but not seller reputation on ARF. Looks like the 08 version was a little iffy, but nothing bad I could find about the 13 lot. The consensus was that it does match all the specs of the SS109, although it's not actual milsurp SS109 (being combloc).

No idea how it shoots, but it looks like decent quality ammo. Not quite the bargain I was hoping for with real NATO mfg SS109, but not bad either. Glad I just did 500 to test the waters, at least until I get some to the range.

Like you I still think of all those folks as "Warsaw Pact" Reds :) Hit me good when I was in Brussels a couple of years ago and met with NATO HQ folks who were overseen by a Czech General and a Romanian Colonel!

Romania has been part of NATO since 2004, 10 years now, and did tool up and provide a lot of ammo under contract for the last few years. NOT saying this is as good as that till I shoot it up bit it does look the same as the standard SS109 batches, even though it doesn't have the 'circle +' symbol on it complying to the STANAG.

What I'm hoping is they did a run with standard brass and used up a bunch of bullets, primer, powder, from the contract, but time will tell. For right now I'm pretty happy.
