Beretta APX?

I agree JCounty, the design is way too Avatar, but I'll admit, I'm old and getting more set in my ways with every day that passes. When comparing Beretta to Beretta, the 92 is hard to beat.

I'm not a big 92 person. I just don't shoot it well.

But I definitely agree-it is far better than their other pistols.

Yet again Beretta disappoints. All of their new products since the PX4 and CX4 have been crap! Like others have said, they are consistently late to the dance and look like they are trying way to hard to look cool at the dance when they get there.

I like Beretta's other products, so am glad they finally got onboard with a striker-fired, polymer handgun.

The HK VP9 and the SIG P320 are both excellent handguns. With holding off as long as they did, they were able to build on the years of feedback on the Glocks and S&W M&P's.

I don't see why folks get upset when someone else comes out with a striker-fired handgun. You HAVE to have one nowadays. Most Federal Firearms Acquisition Requests specify striker-fired ignition systems. It's a good idea to have a firearm that has a single trigger pull at all times (not a DA/SA) and the only 2 other ways to do that are the SAO (like a 1911 or Browning Hi Power) or a DAO. Most agencies will not OK a SAO and DAO's are more difficult to shoot accurately than a striker-fired handgun.

Nearly every Federal agency is using a striker-fired handgun, and they are also the most popular state/local/county issued handgun.

When I hold a 20-student Combat Handgun Course, usually about 15 of the students will use a striker-fired handgun. The other 5 will usually be 2-3 1911's and the rest are DA/SA SIGs/Beretta's.

Tying to figure out how folks are able to dog a handgun that they have not even shot yet. Hard to give an honest assessment of a firearm when your head is buried in the sand.

Just read (10/16) that Beretta is going to use the APX to maintain the US Military contract. Ironcially, to me, the APX is as gangly looking as the Ruger P85/P89, of which Ruger designed to try and win the US Military contract before Beretta got it!
