I just got a brand new, unfired (but no box) Beretta Operation Enduring Freedom Army M9, numbered 1 of 2500, in a trade for a GPS.

I know all 2500 say 1 of 2500, but my question is this - will shooting this gun diminish its value? Does it really have much more value than a regular M9 - is it collectible? I'd like to shoot it regularly, but if it is a bad idea, I'll just make it a safe queen.

I would never own a gun I couldn't shoot.

Its hard. I own a few I dont shoot. Ive only shot my luger once. I bought an extra firing pin because the one that is in the gun is numbered to it. It would piss me off big time if the numbered one broke. It will be a long while before I shoot it again. Its more of a collector thing I guess.

Beretta makes too many "special" editions for them to truly be valueable, same with the non catolog sigs. Unless you found someone to trade like I did (Guy was in desert strorm and wanted my d/s edition) but t hen again, they're going to want the box. The Desert storm editions had a decorated box.
