Chase, everytime I have been compromised they notified me by phone, within 15 minutes. Had em for 25 yrs. 0 problems. I get cash back, pay at my local branch. I never carry a balance, so no intrest paid, and I receive about 2k a year in cash back.

I use credit cards instead of debit for online purchases to have some layer of protection from scammers, etc. Interest rate isn't important because I'm spending money I already have and will pay the card before interest is charge.

Back in the day, I had good results using my credit card to encourage sellers to do the right thing. Once I got to participate in the phone call where the cc rep talked to the seller to get them to abide by agreements. Now seller don't answer phones and cc company call centers aren't even stateside.

What is the best credit card for good service and protection?

My debit cards have the same protections from theft or fraud.
Disagreements or quality issues, good luck getting either to get involved.

Amex since 1986.

Lost count of the reversal of bad charges by unscrupulous vendors over the years, the extended warranties that have replaced TV's, computers, decorative lights, furniture.....

All while providing me with free air travel, airport lounges, CLEAR clearance, rental car insurance, etc.

Got both my kids one as soon as they turned 16. Both had 800+ credit scores when they turned 18.

AMEX has been good to me for a long time.
