Best Guitarist You Ever Saw in Person

OK, one more thing about Macon music, and I promise to shut up.

When Phil Walden was the small time manager for Otis Redding, Otis would play the Douglas Theater. Since this was a black only theater, Phil had to sit outside, in his car, and try to hear the crowd reactions through the walls. That was so he could tell if Otis was having a good night or not. If it was a good show, he coud ask for more money the next time Otis came to town. I heard that story straight from Phil's mouth.

Back to good guitarists. Mark Knofler (sic?) of Dire Straits always impressed me, too. So did the two guys that played for Lou Reed, though I never liked Lou, just his lead players.
