Get a vacuum sealer and vacuum seal the dry pet food. Should last for quite some time but can't give you any numbers.

But I don't LIKE dry pet food. 
Besides, I'm building up quite a stockpile of vac sealed rice and pasta(elbow macaroni seems to vac-seal well). Thinking about adding potatoes to the vac-seal inventory soon.

MREs. No need for water to make or to heat up if you have a small fire and canteen cup.Water is number one and id rather have more to drink rather than to cook meals.
