Since I have moved down to Georgia from Ohio I have been in search of a good pizza place. I love a good thin crust with the tiny pepperonis but i enjoy a good thick crust as well. Any suggestions?
Good luck to you sir - the south has many fine things but good pizza isn't one of them. Most pizza is loaded with poor quality ingredients under the theory that more makes up for poor. There are a few good places here and there - most close to cities that have substantial Italian populations and access to decent ingredients. Savannah and Atlanta each have a few places - Varasano's in Atlanta is good but way overpriced. Cant remember the name of the place in Savannah but a little internet research will go a long way. Heck even Valdosta - as remote as it is has a decent place - Sisters Pizza - decent if you ask for light cheese and a little extra bake time. The crust is very good - New York style. Once again I find the problem is that most places pile on cheese (not very high quality cheese) and have gummy crusts.
May I suggest that while you search out pizza, try a little southern food - you can get great barbeque almost anyplace. But I recommend that you go easy on it, because it is generally a heart attack on a plate.
Best Wishes
