Best place to get rid of / recycle catalytic converters

Just replaced the cats on one of my f 150s . where is best place to get the most $ for the cores.

I was told it's illegal to sell in Georgia, unless you have a license. I had a muffler shop remove mine.

Of course, you could sell them to a not so reputable place.

It is illegal to sell used cats to be reinstalled on a vehicle. You can take them to a scrap place and sell them for scrap, thats perfectly legal. Dont think they are bringing much right now.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Midas said if I didn't give them the core there was an additional 1K charge. I called one recycling place they offered me 5 dollars each. Another said 150 each. I have seen what I have advertised on fb market place for 500 but I don't know what they really sold for. OEM ford replacement was quoted at 4K plus the core, I did magna flows for 1800 my self and still have my core.
