Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has some recommendations on where/how to meet other guys my age to shoot and train with? Not looking for 100% serious all the time hardass stuff though, but something more serious than standing around on a flat range shooting paper targets at 25 yards.

I go to a DNR range to zero my rifles and test accuracy every now and then, but most folks there are doing their annual deer rifle zero, are not people that should be trusted around guns, or only shoot a couple times a year.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

Take a class and meet the trainers and talk with your classmates, you'll probably meet a couple of like minded people.
That's a good idea. I guess I should stop spending my money on ammo and spend it on a class. Just gotta find some good ones nearby but I'm in a pretty rural area.

Go over to Pops gun range in Clarksville it’s an indoor range with great guys that own and run it I have met several guys there that I shoot with now Talk to Whitt and tell him you are looking for someone to shoot with and he can probably help.

I've stopped by there a couple times but never tried out their range. I've got a decent little 40 yard pistol range so I've never felt the need to try one but I might give that place a try sometime. Thanks.

Sign up for a match or competition in whatever discipline you like. Cherokee Gun Club (Gainesville) or River Bend (Dawsonville) have matches for basically any type of gun you own. Typically people that compete are the people that train and practice.
I've looked at both of those for matches and have been really tempted to go, but I know next to nothing about competition. Do I need any specific gear? Or just go with whatever gun is necessary and a way to hold some mags?

Are you close to Dublin? I have 13.5 acres behind me with targets all over the place. Different ranges different highs. Swappy area, sandy, and thick brush. I love to target practice all the time wife says I shot to much. Would love to train a bit. Before it all goes to hell.
That sounds nice and I appreciate it, but Dublin is over 3 hours away 😔
